Fuso has been building trucks for 90 years and its most powerful version to date is now on the Australian market.

The Freightliner Cascadia, which is the best-selling truck in the US, was developed in right-hand drive for a cost of additional $100 million in order to ensure it was properly engineered for uniquely tough Australian conditions and met local operator requirements.

The contractor says fuel savings and driver comfort big pluses.

With all the latest mechanical and technological goodies from Daimler's Mercedes-Benz playbook, Fuso's 510hp Shogun is in a league of its own. It is, quite simply, the most powerful and most appealing powertrain in the Japanese heavy-duty class. But don't go thinking Fuso's new flagship is a bargain Benz. It most certainly is not and, in the cab, an inferior interior proves it.
